Opera

The MET Orchestra is one of the world's great performing ensembles founded in 1883, presenting more than 200 performances each season that encompass the entire opera repertoire, annual symphonic series, chamber music series at Carnegie Hall, and international tours. Musicians are selected through a rigorous blind audition process and are noted as sought-after teachers at major universities, conservatories, and music festivals throughout the United States and world. Beyond performing at the Metropolitan Opera House, MET Orchestra musicians are dedicated to community engagement through masterclasses, performances at public schools and nursing homes, and international teaching programs in Haiti, Brazil, and South Africa.
